Re: HP DeskJet 4280

Thank you for your help. Yes, thank you, I dloaded full feature software from HP but after tackling a connection to printer problem with usb I installed via network...printing that way, but scanner is still not working - HP Solution Center error msg: no HP devices have been detected. Solution Center doesn't seem to get installed either by cd or by dload on HP site. Is there any other way to install that?? The site says it can't be installed separately. Also receiving error msg: Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device. Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. HP DeskJet F4200 series. The data is invalid. If you know the manufacturer of your device you can visit its website and check the support settings for driver software. (My disc is HP DeskJet F4200 series for my HP DeskJet F4280). I'm using Vista 64 btw.

I.ve installed and unistalled several times, went thru online checklist & implemented, rebooted, used hp diagnostics = HPHNDU - not listed, not detected on this network. HPPDU - printer is not connected. HPHDU - connected, test print is OK. HPSDU - no scanners installed.

Thank you for your time, I don't know what else to do here, really appreciate your helping me with this.

Re: HP DeskJet 4280

Hi bsb3,

Try using the scrubber built into the CD or Download.

From Original installation CD:

1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer

2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open

3. Open folder Util

4. Open folder CCC

5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe

6. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools

7. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

9. Download the full feature software and drivers

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=al-74858-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...=

10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:

1. Type %temp% in the run field

2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)

3. Open folder Util

4. Open folder CCC

5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe

6. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools

7. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

9. Download the full feature software and drivers

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=al-74858-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...=

10. Run the download to reinstall the printer
