Re: HP Laser Professional P1102w on Windows XP Y Wirelessly to MacBook

Hello Fernando,

It seems we are going in circles during the wireless configuration from the Mac, therefore I would like to try a different approach by using Windows for that purpose.

Use the Wireless Configuration utility to configure the product to print on a wireless network.
1. Connect the wireless product to the computer through a USB cable.
2. Click the Start button, and then click the Programs or All Programs menu item.
3. Click the HP menu item, and then click the HP LaserJet Professional P1100 Printer series
menu item.
4. Click the Wireless Configuration menu item.
5. Follow the onscreen instructions to configure the product to print on a wireless network.

Once the installation completed, the Wireless light of the printer should become solid blue, please clarify otherwise.

From the Mac, enter System Preferences > Print & Scan.

Click the plus sign - Can you see the P1102 listed as Bonjour kind?

If so, select the printer, click Add and try printing.

Hope we will get some progress,

Shlomi

Re: HP Laser Professional P1102w on Windows XP Y Wirelessly to MacBook

Hi, ShlomiL. Sorry I wasn't home most of the day.

Before attempting configuring the pinter on my windows machine as a wireless connection, should I first un-install the current wired connection?

Please note that my Windows PC has no wireless capabilities. Does this make any difference?

I will proceed when you answer my 2 concerns. Again, thanks!

Re: HP Laser Professional P1102w on Windows XP Y Wirelessly to MacBook

Hello Fernando,

Hope you are doing fine today :smileyhappy:

There is no need to unisntall the current installation, the specfic feature only meant to connect the pritner to the wireless netwrok.

Additionally, the wireless configuration will be sent from the software to the printer over the USB connction, therefore it should not make any difference if the PC have wireless capabilities or not.

Simply follow the steps as listed above by connecting the USB cable first. It should work withouf affecting the currently configured USB connection of the printer.

Regards,

Shlomi,

Re: HP Laser Professional P1102w on Windows XP Y Wirelessly to MacBook

Good morning(?) ShlomiL. Thank you for your reply.

I have started the procedure as indicated by you. Upon entering the Wireless Configuration menu item the PC went into the "Searching network for wireless endpoints ..." mode, and has been stuck there for 20 minutes now.

  • Is this supposed to take this long?
  • Should I do something else in order to expedite this process?

Do you have "Chat" means so this exchanges could be done a bit faster?

Awaiting your reply,

ShlomiL - "Searching network... " is going on for one hour.

The progress bar repeats and repeats and really theres is no advance.

I think I will kill the process until you write back again. Sorry!

But... There is no explicit way to KILL the process.

How do I kill it? (Short of turning the PC off?)

Sorry (again)

Re: HP Laser Professional P1102w on Windows XP Y Wirelessly to MacBook

ShlomiL - Well, after 2 hours no advance was reported by the "Searching network for wireless endpoints..." process.

Since there was no seamles or expedite way to kill the process, the only way out was "Restarting" the PC.

Needless to say, I'm still stumped by the install process...

Awaiting your kind reply on how to proceed,

Sincerely,

ShlomiL:

Well, the rough Restart worked. I have the P1102w now "talking" wirelessly to my PC. What a pain!

Now I'll proceed with the Mac install.

I'll keep you posted.
