I've got a brand new HP OfficeJet 8500 Pro A909n printer to go with my brand new Windows 7 laptop. The Windows 7 instal disk that comes with the new printer fails immediately on launch of the setup.exe, whether I run as administrator or not. I downloaded the "latest" software/driver package from the HP website which was released only a few months ago and that also fails immediately on launch of the setup.exe. The warning I receive is "Installation cannot continue". I also downloaded the very special "HP Instal Wizard" to help me, just in case I had chosen the wrong software/drivers previously. The "HP Instal Wizard" selected the same package to download and again as with all these packages (basic or full instal), it downloaded, extracted and fails immediately on launch of it's own setup.exe
Please advise or let me know if there is more info needed to asses the situation. Thank you HP community!

Looks like I'm not the only one out there having this problem, but not a single working solution that I've been able to find.
Anyone have any ideas?

Hi, It's a 64bit version (forgot to mention that part) and the only other options included in the "Installation Cannot Continue" dialog box are the choices to either "Search the Internet for a Solution and Cancel Installation" or "Cancel Installation". That's it I'm afraid.

Do you have some antivirus or security solution?
Try to stop, this program, only for installation of Hp Software
After restart de program.

Good idea, I'll give it a try this evening when I get home from work and see if it will allow to be installed then. I'll post my results after. Thanks for the idea!

There are updated driver and software downloads for the HP OfficeJet 8500 Pro A909, on hp website, compatible with Windows 7, did you try one of them?
