HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 wired Network not detected by Windows XP SP3 client

I've been installing 3 HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printers using wired network in 3 different rooms in our offices.

They all connect to seperate switches and are using static IP's.

All desktop PC's are running Windows XP SP3 and all with exception to 1 have successfully installed and can connect to the printers.

Despite my hours of trying I cannot get this particular PC to connect.

It installs the software ok,

Then launches the connection process.

I select wired connection

It then scans the network and displays all 3 printers.

I select the one for that particular office (I have tried connecting to the other two but that makes no difference).

Continue through the wizard untill it begins to install the drivers

First it installs the HP Printer itsself then installs the fax printer.

After this the overall installation progress stops at about 3/4 of the way then finally stays it could not connect to the printer and created printers are removed (watched this happen by having the printer folder open).

I have tried replacing the cable between the client and switch and tried a different port on the switch.

I have also tried connecting my laptop running Windows 7 to the same switch and that successfully connects.

I have tried removing other printers installed on the PC that I thought might conflict including a HP LasterJet4 and a nasty Lemark 640. I removed the drivers from the Print Server and all the nasty Lexbce that hijacks the print spooler.

But still no luck.

I'm pretty stumped now, I hope someone can give me some ideas how to try to tackle this issue.

TIA,

Hi, are the printer IP's outside the DHCP range?

Reset the Spooler Service to the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Service?

Re: HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 wired Network not detected by Windows XP SP3 client

Hi 8lives,

As mentioned they are using static IP's rather then DHCP. This is the same for all other systems and printers on the network (small company).

After unintstalling the Lexbce print spooler had been reset to RPC. I have also restarted the service (I actually had disabled it while removing the Lexmark printer drivers). and PC has been restarted countless times.

Ok, so DHCP is not running.

Have you tried Microsoft Fixit for printers (XP)?

You might also want to consider reinstalling XP. (support is ending in 2014/04)

Nope that didnt work as it didnt even detect the printer as it never gets left installed as it gets removed when the installation fails.
