HP Photosmart 7520 fails to connect to WLAN after turn off/on

Good day

I'm using HP Photosmart 7520 with Wireless connection.

I can print for the first time when the printer connects to WLAN, but when I turn off the printer and turn it on again, the printer is not on the WLAN anymore.

The screen and printed network report says that everything is OK - good signal power, it is connected, IP address correct, gateway IP ok, everything is correct and fine - though, the printer IT IS NOT on the WLAN. I used several scanning tools and I made 'ping' and the prnter it's not there.

This is a big BUG! How can I fix it?

Thank you

PS: If I want the to printer to work again, I have to manually reconnect it again to the WLAN

Re: HP Photosmart 7520 fails to connect to WLAN after turn off/on

Hi, have you tried to set a static IP on the 7520 outside the riouter DHCP range?

Also did you apply the latest firmware update to the 7520 version ELM1CN1320AR?

Re: HP Photosmart 7520 fails to connect to WLAN after turn off/on

Hi

Sorry the late reply. I've made many checks to confirm everything.

Yes, I have the latest firmware.

Yes, I've set a static IP address on the printer network config, outside the router DHCP range.

Still not working.

The printer has the blue WIFI led not blinking and on the printed network report it says it's connected but IT IS NOT.

I scanned all the (W)LAN and the printer it's not there.

How can I fix this bug?

Re: HP Photosmart 7520 fails to connect to WLAN after turn off/on

I realized that the printer is now there on the LAN. I turned it off and on again.

It seems that it disconnects when it goes on standby mode and when I try the recover it from standby mode it wont connect again

Re: HP Photosmart 7520 fails to connect to WLAN after turn off/on

Take a look at this HP link.

Is the 7520 connected directly to a wall power outlet?

Re: HP Photosmart 7520 fails to connect to WLAN after turn off/on

Look, I've through all that commoen checks, and everything is ok.

The printer after leaving sleep mode, WONT CONNECT. I need to turnf off and on again.

Yes, it is connected directly to a wall power outlet

The printer gives WRONG info, because it says it's connected but it's not

Re: HP Photosmart 7520 fails to connect to WLAN after turn off/on

You can try disabling sleep mode.

See post #45 in this link.

Re: HP Photosmart 7520 fails to connect to WLAN after turn off/on

Thank you, it worked fine :smileyhappy:

Though it seems there is a bug you need to solve for the next firmware version

Thanks again

Re: HP Photosmart 7520 fails to connect to WLAN after turn off/on

Since the other forum topic is quite polluted, I copy paste here the relevant solution

On the left and right side of the display are a home (top left), return (bottom left) and a cancel (bottom right, it's a red X) buttons.  You might need to use a flashlight to see them beause they probably aren't illuminated.

  • Key in the sequence home (top left), return (bottom left), cancel (bottom right), return (bottom left).  This should bring up the engineering menu.

  • From this menu select Underware Menu.  You will see a display similar to the arrows on a TV remote control (up, down, left, right arrows with an OK button in the middle).

  • Use the right arrow key and go to the system menu (the menu names are displayed in the upper left corner).  Press OK

  • Use the left arrow key and go to system mode timeout.  Press OK

  • Use the down arrow key to set the timeout to 0.  Press OK.

  • Exit by pushing the cancel (the illuminated red x in the lower right corner) until you've returned to the home screen.

This will avoid printer to go into sleep mode, and then loosing connection. As a consequence will increase energy consumption.
