the carriage does not move to center when I lift the lid on my officejet 7000 wideformat.  I have tried everything.

Make sure you unplug the power cord first, and then see if it moves freely.

Then you could try to plug it up and do the same.

Something can be blocking it from moving. Alot of times, it has a small piece of paper stuck on the right side of the carriage, preventing it from moving.

Sorry that you are having a problem with your carriage not moving.

Try to unplug the power cord from the back and manually move the carriage.

Look the right right side of the carriage and see if a piece of paper or something is holding it hostage.

Here is a link that may assist you with this.

thanks I will try moving carriage by hand.  Amazing that I was on the phone with tech support and they never recommended trying that.

My 7000 wide format (E809a) has a similar issue.

On power-up, I found the print ink cartridge holder assembly gets jammed (stuck) on the print head cleaner while in the parked position and an all stop and paper jam indication displays as a result.

My machine has had little use and is out of warranty. My local repair shops don't want to know about it. I think the synchronizing between the cleaner and the cartridge just needs some tweaking but its impossible to find any service/repair information on the unit.

Has anybody else had this problem and found a way to fix it...?? or even found a way to open the case without breaking anything?
