How do I perform a full reset of HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 909a

I think I need to perform a full reset for my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 909a and perhaps update the firmware. How can I do this?

 

I have a start-up loop on my printer and among other things I tried a semi reset but that didn't fix my prob.

 

On two occations the printer has started up and when it has it says there is a problem with the printhead.

 

I turn it off for about two weeks, then started it up again and in when through a start-up proceedure the took about 30 mins then printed out a coloured test sheet, so obviously there is no problem with the print head. When it got to the end of the proceedure it said on my computer the it can't read the printer and to re-start it. I did this and it went back into the start-up loop. After several more semi resets, it is back to saying there is a problem with the printhead. (I'm not going to buy a new printhead only to find out that it was not the problem). As usual the print is only a month out of warranty.

 

I have posted related messages here on several occations but no one seems to want to answer my questions. Can someone please help.

Hi PerfectCircle,

 

Unplug the power cord while the printer is on. Press and hold the # & 6 key while you turn the printer on.

Sorry, I need to do a full reset, not semi reset. I did a semi (#6) reset already. This doesn't work.

 

Do you know how to do a full-reset?

When I try to print, I get a message "Alignment Recommended".  I click "Align", it goes through the process, then a Toolbox comes up and says "Device is busy" and the only option is to cancel.  Then the "Alignment Recommended" box pops up again.  And the same thing happens all over again.  I have not been able to print in 3 days.
