I resolved the issue today. I decided to see if there were router settings that might be causing a problem. The Netgear WGT624 wireless mode was set to "Auto 108Mbps". I changed this to "b and g" mode and it worked fine after that. Not sure why, but the problem is resolved.

Good find -- I should have thought of that.
Many 802.11g wireless-routers, in an attempt to differentiate themselves, implemented proprietary Wi-Fi modes that broke compatibility with standard 802.11g devices.

This is the solution for the DLink router also
Set 802.11 Mode to g and b on the router control panel
Then the "No Filtering" error goes away.
The printer must be using 802.11b only.
Previously I had been set to g and n
