Printers - trying to clean cartridges but linked to wrong copy of printer

HP PSC 1610 All-In-One

Windows Vista

Had to re-install the printer

I did a print test page and have a few black and blue blocks missing and am trying to do a print clean. When I go to the HP Solution Center it shows this printer "HP psc 1600 (Copy 3)" but when I go into HP Solution Center -->Settings--->Print Settings---->Printer Toolbox where you can clean a cartridge it shows "HP psc 1600 (Copy 2)" which is not the copy that is linked to the printer and therefore I can not clean the cartridge. I think I have attached a print screen. How can I change what is linked with the printer toolbox and why would it be different that what is linked with the HP Solution Center?

Re: Printers - trying to clean cartridges but linked to wrong copy of printer

Hello Katie

Have you had other problems previously? I ask because it is not normal to have (Copy 3) unless the printer has had itself installed several times. How is the printer connected to the computer?

The following steps are to "scrub" the HP printer software from your computer. This should remove all instances of the printer and should resolve the problem of solution center showing the toolbox for the (Copy 2). These instructions may differ slightly for your printer software so if you have any problems feel free to ask.

From Original installation CD:

1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer

2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open

3. Open folder Util

4. Open folder CCC

5. Run the L4uninstall.bat

6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools

8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

9. Download the full feature software and drivers

PSC 1610 Full Feature Software (Windows Vista)

10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:

1. Type %temp% in the run field

2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)

3. Open folder Util

4. Open folder CCC

5. Run the L4uninstall.bat

6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools

8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

9. Download the full feature software and drivers

PSC 1610 Full Feature Software (Windows Vista)

10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

Re: Printers - trying to clean cartridges but linked to wrong copy of printer

Thanks, this did scrub the "copies" and now I have just 1. However, I have cleaned print cartridges and am still getting the "Remove and Check Color Cartridge" error.

Re: Printers - trying to clean cartridges but linked to wrong copy of printer

Hello KatieBrown

The following article contains troubleshooting steps for the "Remove and Check Color Cartridge" error. Have you tried replacing the cartridge yet? One of the steps in the article asks that the cartridge is replaced. This way you can isolate the problem. Remove and Check [color / black / photo] Cartridge
