I just upgraded my laptop to Windows 7. I also purchased a new printer, hp 6500 wireless. The install cd doesn't recognize Windows 7 as an operating system. Does anyone know when in November a new Windows 7 driver will be available for this printer?

I just spent the last 3 hours fooling around with the same issue. From control panel, go into network and internet, and from there choose the option to find network devices. It will find the printer...really...it will. Then you just click on the printer and windows 7 will install generic drivers for it that work just fine. You won't have access to all of the scanner, image manipulation, fax control, OCR and other toys, but you can print, and you can also fax directly from the machine.
It's not a great solution, but it allows you to at least print until the new drivers are out.

I had some other issues with the printer and I want to say that HP has been absolutely stellar about helping me work through it via their e-mail support system and getting my 6500 up and running. I'm still waiting for the drivers, but I feel pretty confident in believing that the drivers will be available in a couple of weeks.
I'm pretty darn pleased with the print quality, which is every bit as good as the laser jet it replaces.
I DO wish that the drivers for Windows 7 were already available, but I'm not sure that HP can be blamed for that. Realistically, Windows 7 has only been out for a couple of weeks, and it's not likely that Microsoft released final versions of the code until pretty close to the release date. Frankly, I'd rather wait a couple of weeks for stable drivers than deal with the hassle of being a free beta tester.

Not sure of the issue? I downloaded the driver and installed a new OJ6500 for a friend two weeks ago. Check the link below and make sure you have your right version of the printer and OS selected.
