I found a solution for this problem that affects prints from c309a with both Window Vista and Windows 7 (not Windows XP!).

I disabled "bidirectional support" in Properties->Ports and no more extra copies from my c309a.

 

Hope this works for all you c309a owners as well.

I went to the main computer and unchecked the 'Bidirectional support' and we haven't had the multiple printing problem from any of the other computers since then!  Awesome fix!  I'm not tech savvy so the solution needs to be easy for me.  Thanks for the information!
