I have the same issue with my 8500 (network version). I cannot print landscape from excel 2007.
Using "Vista home premium".
Printing landscape from excel 2007 to my old HP photosmart did work with the same Vista-PC and excel 2007.

On suggestion of HP support I used the driver of the HP990C instead of the driver for 8500.
Now when I print form excel 2007 in landscape it works fine
The way to install
1. Click on the Windows Logo button2. Type "printers" in the Startsearch box without the quotes. 3. Select the printers to open the printers folder4. Click on Add a Printer. 5. Uncheck the Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer checkbox. 6. Click Next. The Select a Printer Port window displays. 7. Click Next. The Install Printer Software window displays. 8. Select HP from the Manufacturer list. 9. Select HP DeskJet 990C model from the Printers list. 10. Click Next. The Name Your Printer window displays. 11. If the printer name is correct, click Next. 12. Select the option Yes to set the printer as default then click Next. The Printer Sharing window displays. 13. Select No when the message Do you want to print a test page displays. 14. Click Next. The Completing the Add Printer Wizard displays. 15. Click Finish. Now we will configure the pritner port to get this to work with your printer : Now go to the same Pritner page again ( ie Windows Logo > Control Panel > Printers) 1: Rigth Click on the HP DeskJet 990c printer icon. 2. Click File. Then click Properties. 3. Select the Ports tab. 4. Scroll to Standard TCP/IP Port and check the checkbox for the port. (the one that has the Officejet next to it)5. Click Close. Now try to print from excell, make sure you select HP Deskjet 990c while printing and check if it looks any different.

Thank you Jehoor for the advice. I have installed an HP DeskJet 990C driver on my computer but I have it connented to LPT1. When I look down the list of ports on my computer I do not have a Standard TCP/IP Port. I have LPT1, 2 & 3 printer Ports, COM1 to COM8 Serial Ports, File, USB001 to 003, Dot4_001, Micro and XPS ports. The Dot4_001 Port is described as HP Photosmart 5300 Series Printer but no TCP/IP Port. When I print in landscape have still have the same error. Any adeas.
I am throughly disgusted with HP. My computer is also an HP(Compaq) computer. I would have expected that they could issue a piece of software or instructions to cure the fault. My only power as a consumer is to avoid buying their products in the future.

Simple fix - go to the printers folder and change the port for the Deskjet 990 from LPT1: to Dot4_001. The previous instructions were for a network connected printer, it appears your printer is connected via USB.

I just purchased this printer today and had the same issue. I couldn't print excel from my Vista computer with the HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless printer. I was only getting the first column of data when I printed in a landscape view.
I contacted HP via a chat and here's what the tech instructed me to do:
Click on Start>>Control Panel>>Printers. Then Right Click on the printer icon>>Click on Properties>>Click on Advanced tab>>Select Print directly to printer. Click on Apply>>OK
This seems to have fixed it for me! I hope that it helps others. Good luck!!

OK, follow-up post. The fix above did not resolve my issue. However, the loading of the 990c driver appears to have fixed it so far. Good luck everyone!!

This solution was just valid for me (print directly to printer).
By the way I know about the underlaying architecture of Excel ... it's just a shame that HP failed to solve this issue.
For the newbies or any desperate housewife facing this issue, please remember changing this option will cause your applications to be frozen during printing. You'll have to change your way of working if you're used to print 10 pages at one and to let it be spooled for processing afterwards.
