C7280 not printing under Windows 7

I just recently upgraded to Windows 7 and I am unable to print using any program (ex. MS Word, Adobe Reader) on my C7280.  I installed the Windows 7 compatible drivers and was able to print the test page, but can not print using any program.  I have deleted and re-installed the drivers to no avail.  Oddly, the printer is able to scan.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,  I have experienced exactly the same problem, so it looks like a W 7 issue that needs to be sorted, soon I hope as it is very frustrating not being able to print.

I am having the same problem and just found your post, I posted under another topic.  My scanning works also, but for some reason the solution center crashes after the scan.  Whenever I install, I can print a test page, but when I try to print another one later, it doesn't work again.  However, the fact that I can print one test page and it scans tells me that it is not a network problem.  I guess it is a driver issue with the new windows.  Hopefully they will fix it soon.

Are you using the Windows 7 drivers from the product support page?

yes, I am.  I worked with tech support for quite awhile, they had me install the 6500 generic driver and it works, but I lost my duplex page printing options and little frilly things.  Plus my solution center crashes whenever it is finished scanning.  Uninstalled and reinstalled. Just a ton of little problems since upgrading to win 7.  It was all installed and working correctly before the upgrade.

Ok I finally got my printer working...<sigh>

I went to the Devices and Printers section in the Start Menu and double clicked the printer icon for my printer.  I double clicked the "Customize your printer"  option and selected the "Advanced" tab in the pop up window.  I then selected the "New Driver" button. I went through the wizard and told it to install the "C7200 series BT" driver. I made sure that the "HP Photosmart C7200 series BT" was the selected driver. After that was done, I went to the "Device Settings" tab under the properties window and selected the "Installed" option for the duplex unit (to enable double sided printing).  Hit the OK button at the bottom and try printing something.  

I am unsure if it helps other people, but I hope it does...I'm just happy I can use my printer again! The scanner function seems to still be working too!

JKCChan- You are a STAR - I had tried pretty much every driver (including HP newest win 7 driver) available with no joy. Tried the C7200 series BT driver and there you go works a treat (after adding duplex and photo tray options) finally my C7280 prints in duplex, scans everything i need in windows 7 32 bit. Heavens above wish i'd read your post this morning !

I'm having the same problem.  I upgraded my Vista system to Windows 7.  Printer worked fine, but HP Solution Center couldn't find printer.  Downloaded Windows 7 drivers and softward from HP.  Got to end of installation process and then it said it couldn't complete installation.  Was able to install printer through Windows and can print to it just fine.  Still can't run HP Solution Center software so scanning doesn't work. None of my other graphics programs see the scanner.  Have spent all day trying to find solution on HP Website.  Even tried chat in despiration, but it didn't work.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a million.  Your solution with the "C7200 series BT" driver fixed my installation problem as well.  I was able to get the installation to complete and now everything seems to be working properly.

You have to wonder why HP couldn't have let people know about that little trick.  HP is so unresponsive, I doubt I'll ever buy an HP product again.

THANK YOU...THANK YOU...THANK YOU.  This fix works great.  Am so very glad I found your post.  After working with HP Totally Useless Care and other sources and getting nowhere this fix worked and now I can print again!  Hopefully HP will realize and fix the problem.  I was near to going with another manufacturer!
