C7280, windows 7 x64 latest drivers 13.1.0 No Automatic Two Sided Printing Support !!!

Hi all, well I have a fresh install of windows 7 x64 runing fine.

Today Installed the latest version 13.1.0 Windows 7X64 full feature drivers from HP website.

I can't see any support in the new drivers for AUTOMATIC two sided printing using the duplexer.

There is MANUAL two sided printing but thats a joke...

Any one else notice this ?

Thanks

The driver defaults to the duplexer being "not installed".  You will need to go to the Printer, Preferences, Device Settings, Installable options and set the duplex unit to "installed".  (Same issue in Vista.)

Bob, thank you very much for the reply, I was able to find the installable options and the duplexer is show as not installed.

The driver will not allow me to change this setting to INSTALLED.

Got any other ideas ?

Thanks

Re: C7280, win7 x64 latest drivers 13.1.0 No Automatic Two Sided Printing Support !!! SOLVED !!!!

Hi Bob, I solved my problem with windows 7 and the c7280 driver installation not allowing me to enable the duplexer.

Today I tried the install again but this time I unplugged the usb cord to the printer before starting the install.

I then plugged it in when the software asked me to and this time I was able to go in to the device settings and enable the duplexer (double sided printing)

So far you folks out there unplugg your printers usb cable before starting the windows 7 c7280 driver install and all should work fine with the double sided printing after you enable it.

Re: C7280, windows 7 x64 latest drivers 13.1.0 No Automatic Two Sided Printing Support !!!

Also applies to C7250 printer under Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit).  Note - everything worked oK under Vista Home Premium

Have already downloaded and installed driver 13.1.0 above and then connected printer.  This DID allow me to scan and to see ink supply levels, but does not have two-sided printing support.  Do I have to redownload and reinstall driver software?

Dbark, click on START, then select DEVICES AND PRINTERS.

Then RIGHT CLICK on your printer, then select PRINTER PROPERTIES.

Select your printer then click on DEVICE SETTINGS

Under the INSTALLABLE OPTIONS does the duplexer show as INSTALLED ?

Re: C7280, windows 7 x64 latest drivers 13.1.0 No Automatic Two Sided Printing Support !!!

[ Edited ]

This is unbelievable. I spent over 4 hours today with HP tech support online chat "Rose". Forget that it takes at a minimum 5 minutes for her to respond to anything that I type. This is the exact issue I asked about for my c7250. Rose had me install the driver from some other printer, and do some other jerry-rigging and nothing worked. Did I mention over 4 hours??? :manmad:  By the time Rose decided she was done with me she had me do an L3 uninstall then reinstall the driver.

Do the tech folks not get this information???? I am in-process of reinstalling the Win 7 (64) driver for the 4th time and decided to look and see if anyone here had figured this out.

I am so pissed at myself for not looking here first - but I am even more pissed with HP and Rose in particular for waisting so much of my time today. This needs to be something standard for folks to check!

Also need to say Thank you to you kind folks who posted this here!

Re: C7280, windows 7 x64 latest drivers 13.1.0 No Automatic Two Sided Printing Support !!!

I have a new LaserJet P2055DN.  I specifically bought if for duplexing.  I installed it on my old XP machine while waiting for my new win 7 (x64) Laptop at arrive and all worked well.  When the new Win7 machine came I was very disappointed to find that I could not print using duplex.  I spent about 6 hours searching until I found this post, tried it and it worked!!! Thanks Bob!

I cannot solve it.  I re-installed the driver.  My printer is connected wirelessly...

Thanks!! This works great!!! and so fast without waiting 5 minutes to get tech help and then 30 minutes of wadding through their decision tree to finally get an answer that sometimes you have to pay $28 for.  Thanks Again.
