Configuring HPUPD(32bit+64bit) on win2003 32bit print server

I'm having trouble with 2 HP colour laser jet 5500 hdn printers.

As we are now trying to cater for a mixed 32 bit and 64 bit environment, consisting of WinXP(32bit)/Win7(32bit+64bit) client computers and Windows server 2003(32bit)+2008(64bit). I have installed the latest HP Universal print driver PCL6 (v5.4) on our win server 2003 print server. I've installed both 32+64bit versions using the server properties context menu item in the printer + faxes folder on the drivers tab after extracting the installer packages to a folder.

The main issue is the Mopier mode keeps reverting back to enabled after i have set it to disabled in the device settings tab of the printer properties. This causes the printer to only print one individual page at a time, no matter what application you print from and no matter how many pages are in the document. I think it has something to do with what platform the client is (either 32 or 64 bit) as i have found after setting Mopier mode to disabled then printed from a 32bit client, everything prints fine, but then when switching to a 64bit client and selecting print, the Mopier mode is re-enabled and i have to disable it manually again on the server.

What i'm not sure about either is, should i be using the hp universal driver installer and install the shared printer using traditional mode using the 32bit install.exe from the universal driver? My question then is, how would i install the 64bit version of the universal driver in the same way without going into printer>server properties>drivers>add>tick 64bit box and install the .inf??

mopier mode keeps getting re-enabled.  using the 5.3 UPD on 4650s & 4700 is there a way to fix this?
