Re: Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue

I just noticed that the same patch has been released for the Photosmart C7280 also. Since you did not mention the OS you're running, ill post the update for both XP and Vista, both 32 bit versions.

Vista, XP

Re: Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue

I have the same issue.  But on a Officejet 6500.  Constantley the PC running XP disconnects then reconnects to the printer.  This adversly effects performance of the application that is running (Word). Connected via Ethernet.  Have not seen the same problem with other computers running Vista.

Re: Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue

I'm afraid the same patch has not been released for teh Officejet 6500 series. Maybe you should try posting a thread in teh Printer Networking and Wireless section of the forum.

Re: Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue

Thanks, but I have an Officejet 6500.  Not yet supported with this update.  Although it seems to have the same issue of losing the connection to the printer.  Currently XP cimputer connected via Ethernet.  It disconnects the reconnects about 30 or 40 times per hour.  The problem when it becomes disconnected it drastically uses lots of CPU cycles and slows down the computer.  I hope they have a fix soon...

Re: Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue

I'm sure they will. the 6500 is a VERY new printer, and i believe once the engineers recieve enough reports of the issue from various channels, they'll release the patch eventually. Just a little patience is needed for now.

Re: Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue

I have a 6380 All In One and have had the printer drop and reestablish connections when using Ethernet on a Windows XP based PC.  I have worked with HP for weeks (including two Saturday morning sessions of almost 4 hours each) with no resolution to the problem.  The printer goes offline and then back on line every few minutes.  This fills up the Windows/Temp directory with error logs.  The work around that I found was to connect my Windows XP machine to the printer using USB while still connecting to my wireless router with Ethernet.  This allowed my non-XP PC to connect to the printer via wireless Ethernet with no problem and my XP machine via USB.  This eliminated the intermittant connection problems and allow me to use the printer as I needed.

Re: Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue

I was able to connect A HP Laserjet 3050 from a XP shared printer to A Vista system. First I had to load the software on the Vista machine with the printer connected localy. IE connected to the Vista PC. Then moved it back to the XP machine. Went into ports for the Vista machine and created a new local port to the XP PC. Seems to work great now.

Re: Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue

I have an hp officejet d155xi directly connected to a USB port on my HP Compaq Presario SR5502FH ruinning Vista w/ 2GB of memory ... Most of the time it will print from word consistently but on the web will not print all the time (sometimes I can copy the web page to Word and it wikll print that way) ... Also, Excel prints sometimes and doesn't print at other times ... I've downloaded and installed this solution with high hopes ... Unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem and they continue ...

What data can I provide you to help troubleshoot and solve?

Thank you for your assistance ....

Re: Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue

This critical update automatically installed itself onto my system, then uninstalled itself again and left a message saying I didn't need it. Now, I HAVE the communication to printer problem. I can't print anything. I have uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it several times. I have run all the utilities that I have found and they all say everything is fine, though they won't print a test page. I can print a test page from the printer itself, but not from the PC. I am running Vista Home Premium (32-bit). I have been working on this ALL DAY. I have written to customer support, and have followed the instructions in their replies to no avail. NOW WHAT?  I need my printer!  H E L P !!!
