Deskjet D1455 - fine in tests, but prints small from documents

When I print from a document, basically a 25% thumbnail prints in the center of the page. I've tried print through Word and OpenOffice. When I printed a test page, everything printed with normal margins. So, I re-installed the driver, but the problem has persisted.

I am printing with only the black cartridge installed. Is this the source of the problem?

It seems like there must be some other solution because the printer is able to print normally when the driver is bypassed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (I need to be able to print out my resume so that I can afford to buy color ink!)

My computer is a Mac 10.4.11.

Yes, the original driver was from the CD, but when I re-installed the driver, I used that download.

Re: Deskjet D1455 - fine in tests, but prints small from documents

Run Apple updates... on your computer> click apple icon>softwware updates

your computer will look for updates & donwload latest updates

then reset printer:

Hard Reset – While printer is powered ON, pull

the power cord from the printer then from the

wall. After 30 seconds reconnect power to

wall and printer. This will trigger a ‘dirty power

up’ and restore the printer to a known good

condition (if it is possible). No user settings

are lost with a ‘hard reset’.
This ‘Hard Reset’ is one of the most powerful

tools to use when the printer hardware is not

functioning properly!

Re: Deskjet D1455 - fine in tests, but prints small from documents

Hi thanks for the suggestion, but it still isn't working properly. I hadn't used the printer for over a year. So, I've considered that it may be some permanent damage, but it still doesn't explain why all test and alignment prints come out normally. Any other suggestions or should I accept that it's broken, attempt to have it repaired?

If you've used it for less than a year then it's still in warranty...contact HP tech support for possible printer replacement.
