Drivers for Deskjet 895cxi

I have recnetly purchased a Windows 7 system and I have an HP Deskjet 895cxi printer attached to my network via an HP JetDirect device.  The support page states that I should attach the pronter to the PC using the USB cable and let the Windows update feature install the appropriate "basic" print driver automatically.  My issue with this is that this printer does not support a USB connection.  The PC does not have a serial port on it so that is not an option either.  Can I get pointed to the appropriate driver so that I can have it available for the install process?  Thanks

Actually the Deskjet 895 does have a USB port, it may be partially hidden by the rear flap but is just above and on the right side of the parallel port.  It should not be necessary to use this to isntall the printer driver.  The Deskjet 895 drivers are available through Windows Update, you could do the following:  go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a printer, local port, say LPT1 (for now...), then when the printer list appears click on Windows Update in the lower right. After several minutes an updated printer list should appear, at this point you can cancel the installl and then isntall using the proper port.

I have some questions that will help me better understand what is occuring. How many PC's are on your network? Are you only placing one Windows 7 system on your network? Do you have a USB cable available?

Hi,

Adding this printer , that is networked to your PC is quite easy.  All you need to know is the IP address of the Jetdirect Box that it is plugged into.  If you dont know this you should be able to get a network test print from the box by pushing the button that is usually on the front of the Jetdirect Box.

Once you know the IPaddress all you need to do is Click The Start Button, choose Device and Printers and then click Add Printer, the wizard will then ask if the printer is Local or Networked Choose Local and then it will ask you what port you want to use choose Creat a new port choose Standard TCPIP Port from the list and click next type in the IPaddress of the Jetdirect Box into the Ipaddress box , the PC will then go find the printer.

Then its time to choose a driver, the 895cxi driver is only avalible through Windows update so click the WindowsUpdate Button and wait for the list to download, Choose the 895cxi driver and click finish and you should have your Network Printer installed.

Usually 5 or 6 pc's on my net.  Only one of them has Windows 7, and that one will be using an OfficeJet 7310 for most of its printing needs....but it is always good to have the back up printer working.  The solution above worked out beautifully.

I have a DeskJet 895Cxi. I have upgraded to w7 x64. 

How do I get the drivers if the computer is not connected to the internet?

No windows updates available without internet.

Not all locations on planet earth have internet yet.
