Firmware update to allow pc assist copy to go standalone [ Edited ]

are there any plans to provide existing HP all-in-one owners the possibility to update their existing devices so that we could make standalone copies without the need for a pc?

Particularly pointing at Officejet --24 models (i.e j6424) and some photosmart printers produced late last year, though relatively new with some of those models still offered in the market.

As far as i know, the only AiO's that dont have standalone copy function is the Deskjet F2200 and F4200 series. All other AiO's can make standalone copies. the Officejet J6400 definitely can do this.

I would not expect this.  The main reason to have the PC involved would be that the hardware in the J6424 did not have the necessary processing power to do the image processing for making a copy.  This would not be something that would be changed with a firmware update.

 Now I really wonder why my old J53xx officejet can copy standalone, but my newer J6424 cannot ...
