HP 2101nw wireless printserver on windows 7 64bit

Hello!

Since I want to upgrade my old operating system to Windows 7 64bit I am looking for a driver for my HP 2101nw wireless printserver. On the official HP website there is only a driver for Windows 7 32bit listed. Since I am currently using this printserver on Vista 64bit (running the driver that came on CD with the printserver)  I am a litte suprised that the Vista 64 bit  drivers are not working with Windows 7 64 bit.

Does anyone use the printserver on Windows 7 64 bit, and which drivers do I have to install in this case?

Thanks for any advice

Have you tried installing the Win 7 32-bit driver anyway and see what happens? I use Win 7 64-bit too, and I know that you can install both 32 and 64-bit software and drivers, and it won't reject it.

Re: HP 2101nw wireless printserver on windows 7 64bit

No I haven't done that yet. I got in touch with the HP support by mail, but the only answer I got there was that they "don't recommend using the Win7 32bit drivers" (which doesn't help very much). So before installing the 32bit drivers (and hence, doing something which isn't recommended :smileywink:) I was hoping that someone here on the forum runs the printserver on Win7 64bit and could tell me which drivers to use.

Re: HP 2101nw wireless printserver on windows 7 64bit

[ Edited ]

I don't have the print server with me, but I can download the software and try installing it on my Win 7 64 PC and see if it at least installs fine. Hang on...

EDIT: Just tried it. Got up to the point where I was asked to plug in the print server, and never got a msg about the installation being aborted due to it's intended bit-version.

So I say, go give it a try.

Re: HP 2101nw wireless printserver on windows 7 64bit

Hi!

Thank you very much for doing this test. I think I'll give it a try, download the latest drivers (although they are for Win7 32 bit) and install them. I will let the community know if it works. Probably someone else's also encountering this problem....

Re: HP 2101nw wireless printserver on windows 7 64bit

Hi,

I have also experienced this problem and tried the above actions to no avail. The install just hangs not recognising the Print server. Frustratingly I can only print "wireless" from the Win7 64-bit computer, by my old XP laptop being shared in the home network(utilising it's connectivity with the hp2101nw), hence requiring 2 computers, the print server and the printer !  Unless anyone knows of another option?

I have the same problems. The driver instalation works but the computer does not recognize the server. What should I do?

Same problem over here, too. Win 7 64 bit... driver works fine, but can't modify the 2101nw configuration.

Re: HP 2101nw wireless printserver on windows 7 64bit

Hi,

I have the same problem. I could not install Windows 7 32 bit driver (COL22470.exe) on my Windows 7 Processional 64 bit  system. The installation cancels when can not find the print serve and asks to connect USB cable, but unfortunately the Windows message is that the USB driver was not successful installed.

The paradox is that I have 2 Windows Home premium 64 bit computers and the installation passed successfully and I can use my C5360 via HP2101nw, but I can not see information about ink level.
