I just brought this printer and trying to set it up but there doesn't appear to be anything for Windows 7 yet. I searched and this thread came up.
If I download the vista drivers will I be able to set it up for wireless printing with them or will I need to drag my old XP desktop out? I trust that once i have the Vista drivers installed and the printer set up for Wireless it should be ok for wireless printing, even if i used the XP to set the printer up.
I don't mean to sound dumb, its purely accidental.

I've got it working on Windows 7
. Here's what to do:
1) Run the setup executable using the full driver download available from the HP website (mine was called PS_AIO_04_C4500_USW_Full_Win_enu_120_210_NB.exe)
Don't install as we only want the files, just leave it open until you complete the next step!
2) Go to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp (where USERNAME is the user you are logged onto the computer as) and look for a 7zX1111 folder or something similar, select the contents and copy them to a C4500 folder in downloads (or anywhere else)
3) Right click the setup.exe and the hpzsetup.exe files, go to the compatibility tab and change them to Vista
4) Now run setup.exe as normal
No guarantees, but it worked for me - I'm running Windows 7 final release (x64) and have a C4580 wireless (printing and scanning working fine.)

I also got my C4599 running in wireless mode on Windows 7 RC 7100 with the following steps
1. Turn on the printer with the USB cable unplugged. Clicked on Wireless Network Connections in your Windows task bar (the wireless signal strength icon) and connect to the 'hpsetup' network you see here. This SSID is the printer running by itself as an adhoc network / wireless access point.
2. Download and run the Vista driver in Windows compatabiliy mode. This means right click on the install file and select Troubleshoot Compatability | Troubleshoot Program | | The program worked in earlier version of Windows but won't install or run now | Windows Vista, then click on the Start the program button to lauch the msi install file
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os
3. When the install gives you the option of USB or Wireless, select the wireless option. Make sure the USB is not plugged, otherwise you will get USB setup only. I had to try a few times before it detected the printer but it should now work if you have successfully connected to the adhoc 'hpsetup' wireless access point in step 1. The set up menu will now display the printer's IP address on the following screen. Mine came up as 169.254.139.169 by default - if yours doesn't come up you can try to ping the printer or use some network sniffing tools to figure out where it's hiding.
4. Open up a browser and type in the IP address of your printer with port 80 as the extension. e.g. for mine it was http://169.254.139.169:80 - this will now bring you to the printer's web page where you can go to the Connections | Wireless (802.11) Interface part of the menu, select the Advanced tab and enter in the SSID / Encryption details of your own wireless network settings. Click on Apply and the printer will use this information to attach to your existing SSID network. Once connected the page will become unresponsive as it's still trying to connect to the printers old IP address. Don't worry about this just close the browser for now, go back to the install and select the prompt to finish the rest of the install and that you will connect the printer later.
5. Go to your Control Panel, Device & Printers, Add a Printer. Select 'Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer', after Windows 7 does a brief search your C45xx series printer should come up if you got Step 4 right.
NB: These steps seem a bit archaic but I found that the above order in getting the network connections right took care of all the other error messages I was experiencing e.g. wrong OS version, cannot find printer, UDP xxx blocked by firewall, etc when I tried other ways to install this. I didn't have to make any changes to my router configuration settings using this method, although I had MAC filtering off. If you want to keep MAC filtering the printer's physical menu allows you to print an info page that gives out the MAC address.
Cheers, L

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless A909g All-in-One using in a home office with local network. Great product. I just installed Windows7 and am loading device drivers. Any knowledge of how to download a driver for this product? My Windows network can see the printer IP address (gives me some hope), but it won't install on the network successfully. And I still need to download driver software for this printer.
HELP!!!

Download and install the software and drivers from the link here. Select the appropriate operating system (32 or 64 bits), then download and run the installer.
