I was able to install the printer in Win 7, but cannot print a test page.

Previously I could outright not install printer.

Troubleshooting indicates that I should check with my administrator...

Re: HP Color LaserJet HP 3600DN Windows 7 drivers (32 bit and or 64 bit)

Everything that's been said is also true for me.  I have a collection of HP all-in-ones which worked for about a year and then started the "out of paper", whatever mess.  Now, the great HP 3600 won't work with a new Win 7 PC.  Also had the Windows Vista problems with a scanner.  HP should be fixing these before the product releases, not having us spend all this time trying to get soemthing to work.  The cartridges are a major investment - the printer is fine.  I've been an HP fan since its days as a scientific equipment manufacturer but most of my newr printers ahve been disappointing.  An old 4V is still chugging along after all these years and it even works with the WIN 7.  Get with it , HP -

Everyone can see that they are beta drivers.  The official drivers do not work and the beta ones do.  What is the risk.  It will not do anything to the printer or your system.  If you want to continue getting inverted prints, then use the regular drivers....

Re: HP Color LaserJet HP 3600DN Windows 7 drivers (32 bit and or 64 bit)

[ Edited ]

Driver didn't solve any of my issues, which primary are that the printer just won't install.

I get an "IEEE 1284.4 printing support", specifically that Windows couldn't find the driver for this.  Searching the intertubes has found plenty of discussion but no location from where I can get these IEEE printing drivers.

Win7 IDes the printer just fine, but it's stuck in the "I've got a problem" section of Printers and Devices, with no way to move forward and complete the installation and no why to move backward and remove whatever *did* get installed, in order to take another run at it.

I might also point out that the driver provided in the link above may be useless anyway.  Windows 7 doesn't appear to offer a manual method of installing printer drivers for *USB PRINTERS*, of the which the 3600 is in my case.

I went ahead and did a manual install to port LPT1: just the same, as that *has* made a difference on ocassion in the past.  But no go this time.

This is very frustrating as there don't appear to be *any* HP drivers offered for Win7.  Fully 50% of the pleasure of dealing with HP in the past, has been the ease with which tech support folks like myself, could easily access print drivers when the customer loses their media (it happens more often than not).

Now that HP has defered responsibility for their products to Microsoft (what was in the koolaid that day?), there is next to no pleasure.

Please HP, pick up the reins once again and give us drivers, specific to the model of printer!

Re: HP Color LaserJet HP 3600DN Windows 7 drivers (32 bit and or 64 bit)

YES! dscrap's solution worked!!! I have an XP machine with the 3600n attached directly to it. It NEVER would print in grayscale, just the inverted page would come out if you tried. However, after reading dscrap's solution I decided to try the beta driver at the link that dscrap provided above. IT WORKED!!! You guys can't see me, but I'm doing a little dance as I type!!! The frustrating part of trying to solve this problem came from noticing that just about EVERY driver for EVERY version of Windows was the same (61.082.61.41). Why do they even pretend that the XP, Vista, 2000, etc. drivers are different? In doing so I know they have ran a lot of people around as they tried one after the other. Clearly HP does not care how much trouble they cause their customers.

Take the time to make sure you have completely unistalled your current driver and then give dscrap's solution a try. All I can say is that it worked for me, and I'm happier than I've been in a long while! THANK YOU DSCRAP!
