Re: HP OfficeJet 6500 (E709a) issue with duplexer

From HP phone support they told me that this might be a problem with a printer's sensor which is responsible to "see" the duplexer... Now, they want to change my 6500 with another remanufactured model.. I don't want to deal with this for a printer I 've bought 2 months ago..!

This post is directed to the HP moderator on this thread.

By now there has to be a final determination about the E709a and Auto Duplex.  Can it be done?  If So How?  Purchased mine 9/20/2010 (yesterday).

Re: HP OfficeJet 6500 (E709a) issue with duplexer

Sorry, I did not know this was users only.

I do have a final confirmation from HP that the 6500 E709a (CB815A) does not and never will duplex.

I have asked them to

1) remove the duplexer from the available accessories for this model from the HP Parts Store.

 2) make sure the first level of HP Support can tell a customer it will not work.

Hope this helps Someone.

Re: HP OfficeJet 6500 (E709a) issue with duplexer

You probably have the Wireless 6500 E709n which I believe does support duplexing.  Do you have duplexing with the 6500 E709a?

Re: HP OfficeJet 6500 (E709a) issue with duplexer

I detached the duplexer to check on a paper jam. Everything was OK now l simply cannot get it reattached. The pink colored latch is not flexible enough to function properly. Shall I use my pliers with some bailing wire and a hammer?

Check to make sure you are not putting the duplexer on upside down....  When aligned properly it should click into place without needing a hammer....
