HP Photosmart C8180 All-in-One printer not working on desktop (Windows XP). Works on laptops.

HP Photosmart C8180 All-in-One printer has suddenly stopped working on my desktop (Windows XP). When I try to print, it just says error and locks up the que. I finally have to cancel and delete. It is as if the driver has uninstalled itself. I tried reinstalling with the original disk. However, it will not work and only states that I have a newer version already installed on my computer. There are several HP items on my ADD/DELETE list. I tried to uninstall them and reinstall. I hit uninstall, it just flashes, but never uninstalls. Due to the fact that I had a previous HP printer on my computer before purchasing this one, I thought it may be getting signals confused. How can I remove ALL Hp software and start fresh? BTW, this printer will work on all laptops in the house which are also Windows XP.

You can try to uninstall the s/w from by going to control panel and under add remove programs

I have tried multiple times to uninstall the software, but it just flashes and remains on the system. Is there another way to uninstall?

If I were to download the current full-feature driver, will it find the old software and remove it during the installation? Also, to download or install, do I need to turn off the firewall? Thank you!~

If you have the CD with which you installed s/w , then,

Goto the folder util > ccc> run Uninstall L3

I input the original CD. My options were: Install or Help

I tried Help to look for the folder you suggested but it was not there. I then went to install, hoping it would give me options. Instead it started trying to install the software on the CD. After a few seconds, it said "The software installed on your system is more current" basically and then showed the FINISH button.

Use revo uninstaller to uninstall the s/w

Revo uninstalled the software perfectly and removed all remnants left behind. I will now attempt to install the current software for my printer from HP online and hopefully it will recognize my printer this time. Thank you so much for your time and patience!
