HP Photosmart - D5160 - Not working - Please Help!

Hi,

New User here, the printer has been working fine till about a couple of days ago. Originally the problem started out by the exclamation mark on the printer flashing and it showed on the little screen underneath one cartridge that was empty and the other one with what looks like a tear it but it was flashing. The thing is I have bougt these cartridges quite recently, so this shouldn't be happening. I had tried switching the printer off, taking the plug out and the cartridges out and then switch printer on, putting the plug in and lastly putting the cartridges in. It seemed to of made it worse, the exclamation mark is still flashing red and the little screen underneath, there is a black light thats going round and round, that normally shows up when I switch it on. If anyone can help me with this I will be soooo grateful.
