HP Solution Center continually stating cannot run because of device installation is not complete.

The HP Solution Center continually (about every 2 - 3 months) indicates that it cannot run because my device installation is incomplete.  This is occuring after it was already running after an installation and my printer appears in my devices and is operational.  I am attempting to open the solution center to scan a document.

I have un-installed and re-installed the software over 4 times and each time it works for several months and then HP Solution Center gives me the same error.  I have not upgraded my computer or made any other changes to my computer during that time.

What can be done to fix the HP Solution Center?

Printer: OfficeJet L7780.

OS: Win7 Pro SP1 64-bit

Re: HP Solution Center continually stating cannot run because of device installation is not complete

Hi,

I assume the printer is installed over the network, please correct me if otherwise.

Try installing the followinf software update which meant to solve and improve the network connetivity:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL35976/mp-89191-1/CPE_SLP_NETWORKMSI_hpcom_000_006.exe

Please follow and check for any improvement after installing the patch.

Thanks for the reply.  I will try and apply it the next time the error occurs (I already re-installed Solution Center).

Now if you can find a fix for the Windows 7 32 bit systems, wouldn't that be nice.

Re: HP Solution Center continually stating cannot run because of device installation is not complete

There is no similar patch for Windows7 32-bit,

I would recommend you to make sure you have the latest software version (14)

(ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL32021/mp-79353-2/OJProL7X00_Full_14.exe)

Additionaly, make sure to check any network affects by running the Network Diagnistics Utility:

Re: HP Solution Center continually stating cannot run because of device installation is not complete

Periodically I have the same problem. Believe it occurs after HP does a software update. Have to reinstall to get everything working again. Have HP Photosmart Prem C310a, wireless connection, Win XP, no network.

Re: HP Solution Center continually stating cannot run because of device installation is not complete

I have no reason to think I have the wrong software for my c7280.  It is the file I downloaded from the HP site for my printer

and operating system.  All my functions work except the Solution Center.  Checking HP for updates results in a message that my software is up to date.

I also do not suspect network issues.  For whatever reason, running your suggested network checker could not find my printer.

However, my printer driver is loaded properly, so I don't suspect a network problem.  I do have Windows 7 firewall running, but

I have had no warnings about that interfering with my download of HP software.

The problem remains that I cannot clear out the software specific to the Solution Center.  Even after clearing out the overall

HP software, the install keeps telling me that the Solution Center is still loaded on my machine.

Re: HP Solution Center continually stating cannot run because of device installation is not complete

My wife and I also each have Windows 7 32-bit on our laptops, and have the exact same symptoms described in the problem "Following a Network Installation, the Product Loses Functionality and Is Missing from the Devices and Printers Menu after the Computer Is Restarted in Windows 7 (64-bit Only)"

We have both reinstalled the latest driver from the website (Version: 13.1.0 Released: 2009-10-21)  several times -- all functions of the printer/scanner will initially work fine, but on the next reboot or so, the printer disappears and Solution Center says the installation was not complete.

I recently upgraded from XP to Windows 7, and the XP installation was always stable.  I also have a desktop with XP and a desktop with Vista, and neither of those have printer issues.

I have a network-installed HP Photosmart 3210 All-in-One printer.

The driver appears to have some kind of Windows 7 compatibility issue -- if they found one for the 64-bit version, why not the 32-bit.?

Re: HP Solution Center continually stating cannot run because of device installation is not complete

I have been following posts for sometime now. I have a Win 7 32 bit running version 13 and I have no issue at all. On another machine I had to install the full version so I downloaded version 14 and it worked until I rebooted and then the installation complete error began.

System that works:

Win 7 32 bit

HP Ver 13

Printer: HP 7780

Connected to and IP network peer to peer

System that doesn't work

Win 7 32 bit - exact same system as above

HP Ver 14

Printer: HP 7780

Connected to and IP network peer to peer

What are we to do?

Re: HP Solution Center continually stating cannot run because of device installation is not complete

This continues to be a problem every time I download a software update. Have to either reboot (as a minimum) or uninstall/reinstall.
