HP Solution Center stopped working after HP updates for Officejet J6480

Will HP provide an update to fix this problem?  Has anyone had the same problem (if so, how fixed?)?  

 

HP pushed down updates about a week ago for my home HP Pavilion Elite e9270f running Windows 7 64-bit and Officejet J6480 All-in-One which are connected wirelessly via my home network.  HP Solution Center had worked well for several years until then, but can now no longer connect to the J6480 with full functionality.  Devices and Printers on the Control Panel shows connection.  HP Utility HPHNDU.exe shows connection.  Printing from MS Office products works OK   HP Solution Center no longer works.  I cannot scan documents to the PC (either pulled by the PC or pushed by the J6480).  I have used the instructions in http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02266743&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4063&product=363... and the HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility OJJ6400_Scrubber_13.exe to remove all aspects of the printer and software.  Then reinstall them (with HP Printer Install Wizard HPPIW.exe), but the new installation also fails to connect for HP Solution Center (MS Office programs still print).  I believe this is an HP inflicted wound that should have a HP solution.  FG 120201

I have the same problem which occurred around the same time. HP Solution Center worked great for several years, scanning to my PC.  Then the scan stopped suddenly.  It prints fine, but cannot scan. Officejet 7310.  I cannot find a solution to fix this.

Hi MFredV & 2015,

 

Sorry to hear you have had issue with the printer after running the update. Please follow the steps below, and let me know if you continue to have issues?

 

Try using the scrubber built into the CD or Download.

 

From Original installation CD:

1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer

2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open

3. Open folder Util

4. Open folder CCC

5. Run the L4uninstall.exe

6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools

8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

9. Download the full feature software and drivers

10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

 

If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:

1. Type %temp% in the run field

2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)

3. Open folder Util

4. Open folder CCC

5. Run the L4uninstall.exe

6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools

8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

9. Download the full feature software and drivers

After 14 hours of trying this and that, I finally found your post. Thanks again. I shall never forget this fix.
