Standart windows 7 fax-programm can't find fax-modem driver for my HP Laserjet 3050 All-in-One printer. How can I fix this problem?

Which operating system tyoe are you using?

For Windows 7 32-bit, it is possible to install the Vista Full feature Software by using compatibility mode:

For Windows 7 64-bit however there is no full functionality available.

You may use the In-OS driver which will provide you print and basic scan functionality over USB connection only, Faxing from the PC is not supported for the specific OS version:

Hopefully I can help but I need to know two things first: how is the printer connected to the computer (USB, wireless or Ethernet)?  What is the system type within Vista, 32-bit or 64-bit?

I have Windows 7 (32 bit) but I followed the online instructions to use Vista (32 bit) for the installation.  My primary challenge is the process of detecting my device always stalls (at 4/5) and then fails.

This is a Enterprise LaserJet and you are in the consumer forums but I will do my best to help. I see you say 4 out of 5.  When you begin the process of installation, make sure the USB is out until it is requested by the installation and when you get a certain screen, it will ask if you want to customize the installation.  I would only select the drivers and anything mentioned like an HP Toolbox. Plus, avoid additional things like the Bing Bar, Product Participation, etc.  Those may not be options in this LaserJet and I do not have this exact model to test it on, but I will post a picture of what I see when I did a custom install on my LaserJet. Let me know if doing a custom install helps or not. I hope it does!

I thought this was from my LaserJet but it was from my Photosmart Installation (I will see if I can find your printer to install):

 

You can see how I only selected the software I wanted to install.  Otherwise, the installation would say 1/10 and the other stuff just isn't necessary to print.
