Help with software updates for HP Officejet Pro L7500 Series

Five updates were identified as available when I used "check for software updates" in the Solution Center.

All updates failed to download. The updates are:

Critical Update to HP Product Assistant

Critical Update for HP Memories Disc Creator

HP Update - Security Update

HP Update 4.0.12 

Recommended update to correct a problem with the Sign up now Product Registration page

Tda, since those updates are not required for your system and printer the updates failed to install on your system, however if you want to see what are the updates that are availabe then here is the web page to select your printer model and then select your Operating system and you can see the updates which you need to update for your printer :

Once you click on the above link you need to click on your model series and then in the next page click on software and drivers download link to see the software available to your printer.

I understand those updates are not required for my system or my printer. However HP Product Assistant and HP Memories Disc Creator were bundled in the software that came with the printer and are now installed on my computer. Since these are critical updates I would like to download the updates so these programs operate correctly.

The HP Update - Security Update is suppose to fix a potential security risk condition with my HP software. The description doesn't not explain which software is to be fixed. So the way I see it is my computer is at risk as long as this unpatched software is on my computer.

Th HP Update 4.0.12 contains a new version of the HP Software Update program which addresses minor defect fixes. I know it's not critical but it makes life much less complicated when I do not need to search the HP website to find a needed update.

The Recommended update to correct a problem with the Sign up now Product Registration page is a nice to have since the Sign up now Product Registration page doesn't work. When I clicked on the application my computer went on an unending search that I could not stop. I had to manually shut down my computer to set things right.

So I agree with you, these updates are not required for my system or my printer. However they are required for the software that came with the printer. If I do not find a solution to this download problem then the software must go. The risk is too great to keep bad software on my computer.
