How To Install Printer Drivers in Windows 7

I have updated the driver and uninstalled the HP Software. Still when I try to load it hangs on 6/8 when detecting device.

In the Device Manager window, click on the View menu>Show Hidden Devices. Now if you still find any HP devices, especially under Printers or Multifunction Adapters, then enable them, or update their drivers.

Ok, I do have an HP Device under Unknown. Will not take any driver I try.

Are you installing the software from teh CD or the downloaded software?

Both. I tried from the CD and then downloaded and tried it.

Then waiting for the official Windows 7 drivers is your only option.

I read in an earlier post that someone had actually installed the HP software and got the scan and fax to work. The only diff was that I tried using the USB connection and he used the network connection. So, I tried that, the fax wizzard came up after the install but the fax test failed. I went back to the Device Manager and my Printer icon had the triangle sign and says reinstall drivers. However, when I try to reinstall is says they are up to date. Any ideas?

If you right-click on that printer icon, do you have the 'Enable' option? If yes, then click on it.

Even better would be if HP would release the Win7 drivers now rather than waiting until Oct 22.  Since Win7 has RTM'd there's no need for HP to wait any longer.

I agree, just release the drivers and everyone will be happy!

This is what is says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)"

when I try to reinstall them it says this"Windows could not find driver software for your device"
