Hi,
Any suggestions for HP Laserjet P2015dn. I can print but no longer have the ability for automatic print on both side. The printer now defaults to manual and when I use it...the printer locks up.
Frustrating...I do not want to invest in another printer.
Thanks.

Make sure the duplexer is enabled as described in the Vista/ Win 7 Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide.

When 42-50% finished adding the printer it fails and gives me a retry or next (do it later). There is no diagnostic information so I can't tell what is going wrong.
I can add the printer manually in windows and it prints fine but i don't have use of the full functionality.

I am having pretty much the same problem with my PhotoSmart 3210. It would be so helpful to have some sort of diagnostic message as to why the install fails, particularly given that the device is visible on the network and the printer functions work fine using the drivers in Windows.
The icing on the cake for me is that I can get it all set up on my children's Acer Aspire (Win 7 64bit)
but I can't on my new HP dv3 (Win 7 64bit). ![]()
Any help, particularly from HP would be most welcome. Thank you! ![]()

CCgarske,
Have you verified with the Microsoft Windows 7 Compatibility Center that the printer in question is indeed fully compatible with Windows 7? The Microsoft Windows 7 Compatibility Center is available here: http://bit.ly/1gW6Ns

Hi, I tried doing that but the only tabs I have are general, sharing, and customize. I don't have a compatability tab. Can you help with this?
Thanks,
Erica

I may have an unique situation. I bought my HP 2150 in Japan about 5 years ago. The 2 CDs that came with it are for English/Japanese instalation. When inserting them it will not recognize the Windows 7. This bought from Dell and brought it back to Japan with me. I know that HP 2150 is not sold in the US (4 years ago). But was once told that the 2100 is close enough.
Question: What do I need to do to install the driver?
Do I down load it? And if yes I need a link that will allow me to install the English version.
If I can use the Discs, what steps do I need to do. I am a novice when it comes to computers. I do not understand "compatibility mode."

I tried this while trying to install an Epson Stylus NX415 to HP CQ61-313US Laptop (Compaq Presario) running Windows 7. The printer is Windows 7 compatible and works fine on an eMachine, installed immediately without the disk and printed a test page just fine. My old Canon did the same -- installed immediately without disk and printed a test page. But on the HP nothing doing. I have spent more than 2 hours on the phone in one session with Epson Tech Support first and second level trying to get this printer installed. The second level had me change computers before they were going to exchange printers. That's when we concluded it is the computer and not the printer. The computer will download all of the software on the disk except the printer driver. So we downloaded the driver from the Epson website. That didn't work. Then we downloaded the combo driver software from website. That didn't work. Then we changed the USB cord and that didn't work. So then we finally changed computers and the printer worked, as stated before. So the conclusion is that the problem lies with the HP computer that I own.
I have read all of the threads in this topic. Even the HP printers have problems with the HP computers. This presents a problem that needs to be solved. And I am at a loss as to how to solve my problem. When I called HP tech support, I was told that it would cost $59.95 because the tech could not access my computer remotely and he would have to escalate my problem to a higher level. I explained to him that I was not going to pay any money at that time and it was not my fault that he couldn't access my computer. He had changed my settings and I told him maybe I didn't want to do that. He informed me that we needed to do that in order to solve my issue. He said in the first place this was a problem that Epson should be solving anyway. I informed him that Epson had spent a great deal of time trying to solve the problem and realized that it was not their problem but HP's since the printer worked on other computers but theirs. He was very nasty. Hence, my desire to try to find a solution here. I hope that this information will help someone in this forum help me to solve this problem. My printer is brand new (purchased in Jan 2010) and mostly used as a copier. I can't print out anything from my computer. I am a genealogist and a stamp collector. I have many files that need to be printed out but I am stuck without a printer. I really need help here. Please note that I am going to contact HP support also.
Thank you in advance for any help that you can give me in regard to this issue.

4 hrs of chat with HP support and a new person every time I had to reboot (4 support techs in total), I was becoming very frustrated. It got to the point that we exhausted everything these guys could do with me. Next step was to grab my details and forward the chat content to a team within HP to sort. I could expect an email in 2-3 business days.
Anyway, I decided to press on and found a solution a fix .. yes I fixed the problem with L7500 series driver install on 64 bit windows 7.
The problem:
I was installing a L7590 officejet driver on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (64 bit) using the full driver package OJProL7X00_Full_13.exe). The printer is connected via ethernet network on my local lan (same ip subnet). The install process finds my printer and continues the installation process only to finish at the last moment with 100% but failed with a big Red X on the picture of the printer.
My Solution:
The solution is to install the software without the printer, reboot and then install the printer. Because you are probably here due to a failed installation, you will likely need to 'clean' all the HP files out of your PC and registry first.
I am not sure if all these steps are needed or whether this will work for XP, Vista or 32 bit Windows 7. But I would suggest you try it.
BIG NOTE: 'CMD run as administrator'. Everything that I say to run is not done by usual mouse double-click. Instead I ran everything from a command prompt that has been opened by 'run as administrator'. Even if you are logged in as an administrator, you still need to do choose 'run as administrator'. I learnt this 'trick' from another piece of software that would not install by any other method.
To open this command prompt window, click start menu and navigate to accessories via all programs. You will see the command prompt there. Right-Click it and choose 'Run as administrator'.
First Step: Clean out previous failed install.
You do this by running .bat files that have been put in your temp directory by the driver install. Open the command prompt (as administrator).
Type: cd %temp% and press enter
this will change your 'current' directory to something like:
C:\Users\rlorimer\AppData\Local\Temp>
Type: dir and press enter
You are looking for a <DIR> with a name starting with '7z'. If you have more than one listed, remember the name of the last one in the list. My one is '7zS4C52'. Yours will be different.
Type: cd %temp%\7zS4C52\OJProL7X00_Full_13\util\ccc
where '7zS4C52' is what you found in the previous step and 'OJProL7X00_Full_13' is the name of your full driver install file.
TIP: save a copy of this statement (your unique version) for later use in a text file as you can copy it later from there and right-click paste it into the command prompt window. You will use this 2 more times.
Type: Uninstall_L1.bat and press enter
The first stage of uninstall will occur and you will reboot at the end.
When your computer reboots, open a command prompt (run as admin) and navigate to the uninstall directory again:
Type: cd %temp%\7zS4C52\OJProL7X00_Full_13\util\ccc
Type: Uninstall_L2.bat and press enter
The second stage of uninstall will occur and you will reboot at the end.
When your computer reboots, open a command prompt (run as admin) and navigate to the uninstall directory again:
Type: cd %temp%\7zS4C52\OJProL7X00_Full_13\util\ccc
Type: Uninstall_L3.bat and press enter
The third stage of uninstall will occur and you will reboot at the end. You might be asked if you want to keep some web associated stuff ... choose no.
After the reboot, navigate to your temp directory in your file explorer. You can do this easily by clicking start -> run and typing in %temp% and press enter. If you don't have a run command, then open my computer and navigate to the directory you determined earlier eg
C:\Users\rlorimer\AppData\Local\Temp
Delete all folders and files in this Temp directory. There may be a couple of files that can't be deleted. This is ok. Reboot your computer.
You now have a 'clean' pc to do the install.
Make sure to place a copy of the driver install OJProL7X00_Full_13.exe in the root directory of one of your drives to make the next step easier. In my case, I put it at c:\OJProL7X00_Full_13.exe
Open a command prompt (as administrator) and navigate to where you saved your driver install OJProL7X00_Full_13.exe
Type: c: and press enter
Run the installer
Type: OJProL7X00_Full_13 and press enter
When you get to the install screen where it finds your printer, do NOT select it ie choose to carry on installing without the printer. The installation will complete successfully. Don't choose to put a 'Add Device' link on your desktop if it asks you .. this link caused me problems.
Now Reboot your computer
Run the installer again ..
Open a command prompt (as administrator) and navigate to where you saved your driver install OJProL7X00_Full_13.exe
Type: c: and press enter
Type: OJProL7X00_Full_13 and press enter
This time you will have different options. Choose to add a device. Let the installer find your printer and then select it to continue the installation.
Now working .. hopefully like mine
