We are getting lots of questions about scanned files disappearing or not being written to where they are expected to be.
HP have created a fix for this problem
Thanks, if you have any problems please report them to the forums so we can try to help you out.
I work for HP

Can you please further explain? How does one save this file workaround to the computer?
I clicked the link, but the file won't open, and I don't know how to complete the process you describe to fix the problem.

maggiesfam,
You might have to type the ftp link in your internet browser. It should show you a list of files that can be downloaded. Sometime you have to right-click and do a save target as...

The best way is to rename the existing file and then download the new file. You might have to close your HP software in order to rename the file.

At the risk of sounding really inept, I'd request a step-by-step explanation of how to fix the disappearing scan problem. If you could start at the very beginning (with the link to the ftp file), I'd be so grateful!

Hi Maggie,
I'll give it a shot (this is for 32-bit, if you are using a 64-bit system then the let me know):
- Open windows explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin
- Locate the file hpqxmlul.dll
- Right click on the file and select "Rename" in the drop down list,
- press the end button,
- type .orig and then press return
- Click on the link ftp://noscnfil:update2@hprc.external.hp.com/
- You should see the filename - hpqxmlul.dll
- click on the filename
- select save file and click the ok button
- now you should get a dialog asking you where to save the file
- in the dialog browse to C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin
- click save
That should do it. You may run into a problem with step 10 depending on how your browser is set up. It may be setup to default to a certain download location. Let me know what step is problematic and we can go from there.

The instructions for 64 bit are the similar except use Program Files (x86) instead of Program Files as follows:
- Open windows explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Digital Imaging\bin
- Locate the file hpqxmlul.dll
- Right click on the file and select "Rename" in the drop down list,
- press the end button, type .orig and then press return
- Click on the link ftp://noscnfil:update2@hprc.external.hp.com/
- You should see the filename - hpqxmlul.dll
- click on the filename
- select save file and click the ok button
- now you should get a dialog asking you where to save the file
- in the dialog browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Digital Imaging\bin
- click save
If you had no problems following the above steps and it didn't fix your problem then your problem must be somewhere else.
