I have a C7280 All-in-one printer, and for the most part its working great. I have a desktop(vista) and a wireless laptop (XP) running just fine with it scanning and printing.
I am however having a strange issue with another laptop(Windows 7). This laptop is NOT an upgraded version of Windows 7 it is a clean install. The issue is that if I reboot it after installation I cannot open HP Solution Center anymore. I get the message: “HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete. Please plug in the USB cable or re-run the setup program……” I have found that I can remedy this situation by uninstalling everything and re-installing. At this point everything works fine; I can print, scan and see the networked flash drive in windows explorer. However when I need to restart the laptop, the printer no longer shows up in my list of printers, and I get that message( “HP Solution Center cannot….”) when trying to open solution center. At this point if I look in the windows Application Log I see and an information entry from hpqcxs08 with the following description:
“The description for Event ID 0 from source hpqcxs08 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
Service started”
Uninstalling and reinstalling again will fix this, however I can’t just uninstall and reinstall the printer every time I need to print or scan something. This laptop has Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, and has all service packs and updates applied, I am using wireless to connect to the printer. The Windows 7 Add Printer wizard can find this printer(but that dosen't help me when I want to scan). I am installing the software from HP’s website for windows 7 32-bit "Full Feature Software and Drivers" Version 13.1.0 (PS_AIO_02_Net_Full_Win_WW_130_140 .exe) Has anyone else seen this or have any advice on how to fix this issue? Any advice would sincerely be appreciated.

Lucilgood,
Thank you soo much for your post. Yes, this did fix my problem. I just restarted it now, and my Win7 machine it can scan like a pro!
I appreciate the response.
