To me it seems crazy that a manufacturer should need an official support forum at all - isn't it an admission of failure of the support, to throw all these discussions open to frustrated users to try to find solutions amongst themselves??
There are so many threads its hard to find exactly the right one, so I thought I would start from scratch. I cannot get my 5610 to operate with full functionality with Vista. I have uninstalled and reinstalled umpteen times, and have downloaded everything available from the HP website. Solution centre still cannot detect my HP device. A test print comes out fine, but actual prints are rubbish and I have scanner issues. I don't want to go into the exact nature of those problems, it is the setup that I want to resolve so that I can sort them out myself. It seems amazing that after all the posts here and on other forums HP does not appear to have a definitive solution to installing this product successfully.
I am just an average user, and many of the solutions offered by well-meaning fellow users are either too complicated for me to follow, or are replied to by others with comments along the lines of "thanks I have tried all that but it still doesn't work."
Having read all the posts I am left with some very obvious questions;
Why doesn't the latest available installation download solve the problem?
If uninstalling is first neccessary. why isn't there already a comprehensive uninstaller available?
This product has been around for ages, and Vista isn't new anymore. Does anyone at HP read all the different things that consumers write? I would love to go to the website and find something along the lines of:
" In response to issues identified by users, here is the solution to the problem of the 5610 not being fully compatible with Vista. If your printer is not operating with full functionality, please follow these two steps:
1) Download and run the new uninstaller, which will completely remove all traces of any previous installations.
2) When uninstalling is complete, download the new installation software, which has been designed to resolve the problems users have identified.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank all users for their input, and to apologise for any inconvenience caused"
Would it be that hard to do??
Assuming that the answer is yes, does anyone here actually have the definitive solution please?
