Hello,
Thanks to excellent assistance from Wi-Fi Guy, I'm now able to send print jobs to my printer.
However, I can't seem to figure out how to load the correct driver for my All-in-one 7210. As a result, I have no color functionality, and even in black and white, images come out very poorly.
My question is, how can I correctly load the driver for my 7210? Or, is there another printer I can choose from the "add a printer" wizard in XP that would work fine?
Here's what I've done so far:
- I downloaded and ran the relevant EXE files provided on this page, each of which extracted a folder onto my desktop. I tried the HP Multi-Function Products Driver Bundle - Corporate Only as well as the HP Basic Feature software/driver.
- I ran setup.exe on both of those, and assumed that the end result was that my driver was "loaded"... meaning that I expected that when I did "add a printer"(start > settings > printers and faxes) that my printer would be listed and I could choose it. This was not the case.
- I then tried running the "add a printer" wizard but choosing "I have a disk..." as the option. It seemed to require "autorun.inf" which I found inside the post-extraction setup folders from step one. However, the process did not finish, because at some point it was asking me for a specific file that it couldn't find anywhere in the setup folder.
- Since I couldn't find my printer, I figured that something similar would work with no issues, so I chose HP OfficeJet LX, not being familiarwith any of the printers listed there. However, when I print, the quality of images is very low, and I can't seem to find any options anywhere for printing in color.
Thanks for any ideas! I'll happily provide more information if necessary. I suppose I could cave in and install the HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Drivers but I don't need all the software bloat from the photo editing software and what not.
Cheers
Mark
