No win 7 x64 package for m2727nf

Got a lovely new m2727nf, its primary function right now, door stop. Running Windows 7 professional x64 and it will not see it on the network. Ironically win7 picked up my aging 8000n and installed without problem. I know there is the universal basic print driver but i really need a replacement for the scan and PC fax utilities of the original software package.

Is there any way to edit the downloaded software install (full N. American install) to have it ignore the OS check and this run as error i am getting? Love the unit but dislike the fact i am having to use the unit this one was supposed to replace.

Unfortunately, I can't find the source of this work-around, but it was on one of the HP-operated boards:

Whoever the source is--and I quote him below--he has provided this "solution," although HP should be ashamed that it has not provided a non-workaround answer after all these months. I tried this solution with 32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. It may work, too, with 64-bit.

Here's the workaround. Be sure to follow instructions exactly.

Windows 7 uses the same drivers as Windows Vista, only the software is a bit different.

The solution is to download the full software solution for Windows Vista, right click the file, choose "Properties".
Under the "Compatibility" tab, select "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows Vista Service Pack 2" on the dropdown list.

Now press "Ok" and double click(run) the downloaded file, to install the software normally.

That workaround was successful on a Windows 7 64bit OS.  Yay!

Steps:

1. Download the "full" installation (at the very bottom of the screen from the HP driver download page)
2. Run the download .EXE file to extract all of the files to disk
3. Locate the SETUP.EXE program (on my disk it was in c:\hp_LJM2727_full_solution_AM_EMA1/ folder)
4. Change the properties of SETUP.EXE to run in compatiability mode (Vista SP2) and with Administrator privelege
5. Run SETUP.EXE and enjoy

Wow, after fighting this on and off for months, what a simple solution.  I downloaded the Vista64 driver/scanner package for the M2727.  Went to the downloads folder, right clicked on the file, selected properties, compatibility tab, selected Vista64.  It installed and is now running on W7 Pro 64 thru Ethernet port and router.  Thanks!

Exactly what is now working on the M2727nf?  I am able to print with it using the HP universal print driver, but not able to scan and attach to an email or to make a pdf.  What did this work-around accomplish?  Thanks.

It looks like HP released a new version last year. It seems to work for me once I removed the previous driver/device and corresponding IP printer port from my computer. It wants to recreate everything from scratch rather than recognize that the port is already setup.

Well, I have tried all the solutions listed in the previous posts and nothing works.  When I run the installer it finds the printer on the network and then proceeds to start the install.  It aborts about half way through.

HP support has been useless.  Interesting that Win 7-64 Pro does not list the M2727 in the list of installable printers even after updating the list.
