thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!  i have spent so much time on this same problem.  why does HP do such crap??  to many hours spent on something I should have received when i purchased this stupid printer.  I installed and reinstalled , tore my room apart also looking for stupid disk too and then nothing.  Even downloaded from HP again and still nothing like the other guy said... nothing about OCR, nothing in the read.  NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!  HP needs to get it together... instead of spending so much time sying on us with micro chips on their ink cartridges.. anyone know that??  they can see what you do alll the time!!  and I just purchased NEW cartridges and have not printed in color yet and they are empty!!!  People... whoever you are that started that lawsuit against them for the ink stuff... keep going.. I will never buy another HP printer in my life!!!

Hi - I've been trying to get OCR to work on my Mac but to no avail (even though the instructions infer it should work).

Did anyone ever reply to your query?  I'm now getting desperate and frustrated

We just purchased a hp photosmart 5514 and it did not come with an OCR. When I followed the link and instructions for installation I got a 140 in place of the 130 and when I installed it I got the message that I did not have any device that needed this application. Therefore, I am stuck with no way to scan and edit a word document. Do I have a all in one device that will not allow me to install an OCR?

As is typical with the HP Photosmart Plus printer...when I click on the "HP Solution Center" icon, I am told the computer cannot find the printer.

The software works OK with my laptop, but I have not yet tried it on this desktop.

On my other computer (since gone to computer boneyard) the software worked very well.

In order to get the computer to recognize the printer, I am told by way of the HP "troubleshooter" that I need to restart the OCR program...reboot my computer...or reinstall all the printer and OCR software.

How convenient for us users! Thanks HP for making such a reliable product. The ONLY reason I buy HP printer products is brand loyalty and familiarity...if you can believe that. I guess I'm just an old dog that can't learn new tricks!

Anyways, good luck with your HP printer experience...if my experience is any indicator, you're going to need a lot of luck...and patience...and resolve.

Deep sigh...
