Hello Folks,
I've been trying to install both firmware version 20120130 and the smart install update on my P1606dn. Both installs fail.
I got the firmware from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloa
Whenever I try to install the firmware or smart install update, the installer goes through the entire process, looks like it uploads everything to the printer, but then it gives me "!!Failed to update firmware!!" and "!!Failed to update HP Smart Install!!" dialog boxes. I've tried restarting the printer and everything, but to no avail.
Any idea what's going on here?
Thanks,
Alex
P1606dn

Hi,
I am not sure how the printer connected
To update the new firmware the printer should be installed over USB and not over Network
Make sure the printer is installed over USB and then try to updating the firmware / Smart install utility,
•Please use a 2 meter (6 foot) USB High speed (2.0) cable.
Hope this helps you !
