PSC 2110 All-in-one now prints VERY SLOW

Maybe I just need to bury it, but my psc 2110 started printing extremely slow -- 15 minutes for the align cartridges page, 17 minutes for the "Self-Test Report".  So, it has nothing to do with the connection between the printer and computer (these prints are from the printer itself).  I've tried unplugging it all, waiting and plugging back in; removing and re-inserting ink cartridges; aligning print cartridges; downloading the HP printer utility (which reported "No Problems found"); searching for an update (it says I have the latest).  Any ideas?

Re: PSC 2110 All-in-one now prints VERY SLOW

If the printer prints a swath, then pauses for 15 seconds or so before the next swath then likely the issue is one of the print cartridges has failed.  If the PSC 2110 is able to print in reserve mode (with one of the cartridges removed) then you can remove one cartridge, print something, then replace the cartridge, remove the other cartridge and print something.

Whichever cartridge that cauese the printer to print slowly is the culprit and should be replaced.  If the PSC 2110 does not support reserve mode then you will need to use trial and error to determine which cartridge is at fault.  I would start with the black cartridge.

Re: PSC 2110 All-in-one now prints VERY SLOW

[ Edited ]

I used a black ink cartridge (56) from Cartridge World. Then my printer started printing very slowly.  I returned the cartridge to Cartridge World and they replaced it, but it had no effect.

Then I purchased an original HP black cartridge and it has no effect - still very slow.

Could the first Cartridge World cartridge have damaged my printer?

Thank you,

Mert

The printer performs an electrical check when powere is turned on and when a cartrdige is changed and would likely not print at all if a cartridge was electrically bad enough to be a problem for the printer drive electronics.

In your case the color cartridge is likely at fault, try removing the color cartridge and printing a test.  If it prints normally (in B&W of course) the color cartridge is at fault.

Re: PSC 2110 All-in-one now prints VERY SLOW

It's Mert again!

Well, I replaced both the color and the B&W cartridges. It does print the alignment pattern, but when I place it on the platten, it says it is aligning but nothing happens. And I mean for a long time, until I turn it off and try again. Same thing happens all over again..

I am guessing the printer is ready for the scrap heap? Agree?

The page here may help resolving alignment issues.  There is also a procedure to bypass the alignment.

I am not sure which step of the referenced page corrected the problem, but it is fixed. Thank you, Bob!
