I believe that the issue is in your registry and is a microsoft issue, not a HP issue. Type event viewer in your "start search" pane bottom left of your screen where you access your programmes etc. Open your event viewer. Click on "Windows logs" (near top left); double click on "Application" (middle pane); scroll down until you find the error associated with the installation failure. The errors are in red. Highlight error and copy/write down error message details in the general pane below. You can't cut and paste. The mesage should be something similar to "Error 1606: Could Not Access Network Location %APPDATA%\. You can now close your event viewer. Type this into a google search and go to any microsoft website found. Download the "fixit for me" tool. Don't run it yet. Unistall your HP software. Do a "L4" uninstall. This can be done by inserting your HP installation disk and rigt cllicking on your disk drive. Click on open which allows you to view all the files contained on the disc. Click on "Util"; click on "CCC"; scroll down and find "L4" uninstall batch; double click on L4. This allows you to completely remove the HP software. Continue to click yes until everything is uninstalled. Finally a screen comes up asking you to restart. Don't restart just yet. Before this type %temp% in your "start search" pane, bottom left of your screen. Open the temp folder and delete everything in it. Now restart your computer. After restart run the microsoft fixit tool. You will have to restart again so the the registry fixes can take effect. After second restart try installing your HP software again. Hope it works for you.
