Photosmart D7160 with Bluetooth adapter not installing completely on Windows 7 64bit OS

Hi,

I am trying to install drivers on Windows 7 64bit OS for my Photosmart D7160 with a bluetooth adaptor connection.  When I install there are two bluetooth devices that do not get installed.  In the Device Manager they show as Unknown Bluetooth device.  I installed the HP Photosmart and Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers downloaded from the HP drivers page before trying to connect the printer.  I have also uninstalled the printer and tried to reinstall to see if it would pick up the correct drivers but not luck.

I have a second machine that I just upgraded to Windows 7 32bit OS and installed the HP Photosmart and Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers.  When I connected the printer to that computer all the drivers installed correctly with no unknowns bluetooth devices in the Device Manager.

Any suggestions?  Do the bluetooth drivers not work with the 64bit OS?

Thanks . . .

Re: Photosmart D7160 with Bluetooth adapter not installing completely on Windows 7 64bit OS

Hi Hameed,

So you are using the full software version 13.1.0 from the Hp.com web site on both machines, correct?

The link below is the correct link for both 32 and 64bit versions of windows 7.  The HP software is exactly the same for both OSes.

You have two different PCs so they will have two different device managers and so maybe you have BT radios built into your first PC and you are missing some drivers for them?

Are you able to print from the first PC to the BT printer?

Do you have a Bluetooth Radios line item under the device manager of the first PC and does it have any functioning radios under there?

Give me a few more details on what you are experiencing with the first PC.

Re: Photosmart D7160 with Bluetooth adapter not installing completely on Windows 7 64bit OS

I am able to print from the 64bit PC to the BT printer.

Yes there is a Bluetooth line item under the devicemanager and it has the following radios all reporting that they are working properly:

    Bluetooth Printing Support

Dell Truemobile 355 Bluetooth + EDR

   Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator

When I installed the printer items did not install (these items are listed in the 32bit PC Hardware Properties but not on the 64bit PC):

    Bluetooth BPP Status

    Bluetooth Imaging Responder

    Bluetooth OPP

I just decided to uninstall the printer and all the drivers and software and attempt to reinstall.  I got all the software and drivers installed but now when I go to add the BT printer I get an error indicating that the device indicates a hardware failure. The BT printer is still communicating with the 32bit PC and indicates that it is online and ready so I don’t think a device failure is accurate at least on the printer’s side.  I also have a BT travel mouse that I use with the 64bit PC and it still works fine so I can’t see that it’s a hardware failure on the PC side either.

One thing I have noticed is that on the 32bit machine there is a Bluetooth shortcut in the startup folder and there is not one on the 64bit machine.  I am in the process of getting a Bluetooth download from Dell and will try to install that tomorrow to see if that works.

Any other information you need?  Any ideas?

Thanks
