I had Windows 7 automatically install and configure the driver for my HP Photosmart 7960 printer. It works OK but not as full-featured as the installation using the CD with Windows XP. My problem is with printing E-mail.....it doesn't work. I can print most everything else. Is there a fix for this situation or should I revert to using the install CD that came with the printer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Is there a potential problem if I go ahead and use the install CD that came with the printer ? I don't want the additional programs on the CD, but if that is what it takes.............

The XP installer will likely not install on your Windows 7, it will simply refuse to install. What email program are you using? What happens when you try to print from the email - are there any error messages, or does the printer go through the motions but not print or ???
You could try a different driver as follows: go to the Devices and Printers folder, right click on the Photosmart 7960, select Printer Properties, Advanced, New Driver, Next, Windows Update (wait a few minutes for the list to repopulate), HP, Deskjet 5500 series (HPA) (HP), next, finish.

When I tried to print Windows Live Mail, absolutely nothing happened. I didn't even get any pop up messages, dialogues, warnings, menu options,.......nothing !! When I started to investigate my devices, and the printer in particular, I decided to make it my default printer, went back to my email and printed it......no problem. That seemed to solve the problem. Thanks a bunch Bob for your input.
