Printing Shortcuts on HP Officejet pro 8600?

Hi, I also own an HP 8500.  After you select print and the menu pops up to select the printer, when you select the HP 8500 and select properties, there is a tab for "Printing Shortcuts"  Its a great feature, but I am not seeing it on my 8600.  Does it exist and I just need to activate it somehow or was the feature removed with the 8600?

Re: Printing Shortcuts on HP Officejet pro 8600?

Hi,

The Printing Shortcuts feature been remove and no longer avaialble for the latest HP software.

There is a possible workaround to get the functionality by using an alternative driver, but as mentioned, it is no longer provided by the printer driver.

Shlomi

Re: Printing Shortcuts on HP Officejet pro 8600?

I just purchased the Officejet Pro 8600.

I downloaded and installed latest drivers from HP website for a Windows 7 and VISTA box.   Printing working but also missing the shortcut options.  Canon had something called profiles, made it very easy to jump from 4-6 photos to documents to all page photos.  I worked with HP chat to see if they had something like this , they sent me to tech support phone.  I called tech support phone and the tech just read back the manual to me.   Waste of time.

Today I setup one of my kids laptops, windows 7 and installed driver from windows 7 install screen for Officejet Pro k8600 , did not download from HP site or use CD with HP printer.

And I see printer shortcuts, which seems to be same as Canon PROFILES.  This is much easier.

Not sure what the "K" stands for but it seems to work.

any suggestions or coments ???

Re: Printing Shortcuts on HP Officejet pro 8600?

what other driver? I just bought a 8600 and cannot believe the driver software no longer supports shortcuts. This device will go back and I will never buy another HP device if this is the case.

Are you positive about that?  I understand wanting to streamline the print preferences UI, but this is going back to 1990.  They really expect users to make - possibly - several changes in printing prefs, every time they want something different than current default settings?  Then, if they're still in same app, same session - changing settings back - to go back to default settings?  What a huge waste of time.
