Problems with Deskjet 5740

Hi,

I had a problem (and i think i still have it), everytime a print session ends, the printer always prints a stupid test page. I searched on the internet for this problem, and thought that just reinstalling it would resolve the problem, but of course it didn't, it got even worse. I'm running windows vista ultimate x64. So i opened Printers in control panel, select my printer and press Delete Printer (that's because there's no printer category in Device Manager)... and... that's it, it just simply deleted it, i thought a baloon message should appear telling me it found new hardware, i even unplugged the power cord from the printer and plugged it back in, and nothing happen. I even changed the USB ports, nothing works. Now i don't have my printer in the printers list so i can't print anything. Point is i can't reinstall it (or at least i don't know how, since there's no driver on the official web-site saying Vista has it built-in.... build-in my !@# because i haven't say my model Deskjet 5740 in the Add new hardware list :smileyindifferent:, it doesn't even detect it as new hardware.

Re: Problems with Deskjet 5740

The test page it prints is an alignment page, it will print this to automatically align the cartridges after one is replaced.  If the alignment page completes successfully it will not repeat.  The alignment page requires the black and color cartrdiges to be present for it to complete.

As for the printer driver, go to the printers folder, add printer, local port, select the proper DOt4 or USB port and select the HP Deskjet 5700 Series (HPA) printer.
