Scanner part of HP Laserjet M1522 nf, stop working from pc.

When you say reinstall do yuo mean to remove what I have now and then reinstall it?

Also, I tried that link you sent and did not get any specific downloads but a list of other items, one in some other language for other HPs - like 1000, 3055 - but not for M1522nf.

Is there a link for HP  software updates where I can locate updates for mine?

Should I use the cd that came with the pc ?

That download lists 9 different languages, one of which is English. 

But the main page that you start from in order to get to your appropriate downloads is here:

Select your printer, then next screen your OS, then you will have a list of various drivers and software, of various regions/languages.

OK It did work this time . 

I still would like to  verify that  it is the software that I should download and if I should remove it from  my pc first.

I always recommend uninstalling the older version first. Personally, I disconnect the printer, uninstall the older software, reboot the PC, then install the newer version.

Should I "remove the printer" using the Printer & Faxes part od Start   or  go to Add/Remove and remove the there?

Also, should I use the cd that came with nthe HP MFP or download the software from the HP site?

Yes remove as much of the previous install as possible. I would also use the Add/Remove option to ensure it is uninstalled.

I'll remove the currently installed software for the HP M1522nf.

I would like your opinion on using the cd that came with the HP MFP and let it be uodated by the Update program or go directly to the HP site and download the saoftware

Personally, I would install the current software from the download location.

OK I'll do it that way.

The one that thing that bugs me at this point is why did it occurr. What happened that diactivated the scan and/orr cause the disconnect with the software or corrupted HP software ? As I remove & reinstall it, it could do it again.

I also have another malfunction. I lost the use of Photoshop. And, I'm wondering if there is some program that both of these use - the HP scanner and Photoshop - that may be corrupted.

I would appreciate your thoughts on these.

Generally , when something stops working, like you are thinking, some event caused it. An update to a program, operating system, malware/virus, or hard disk starting to fail but this one is not that common. When a physical compenent starts to fail, it is usually very quick before it is completely dead. 

I would look for things that changed about the time that you lost the various functionality.
