Unable to install DESKJET 2050 J510 Driver from HP website

Hi all,

I am using Presario CQ42 & I tried to install theDESKJET 2050 J510 printer driver from the website a couple of times, but failed.

I tried to seek help from the laptop online tech support but they ask me to seek help from printer support. However, I can't access it, as everytime i entered the product number, it was wrong.

Btw, this is the message that appeared :

550 /pub/softlib/software12/COL36394/al-89723-1/DJ2050_J510_Basic_x86_231.exe: Permission denied.

Try downloading the file from this link.  Once the file has completed downloading then run the file to install the printer.

first of all, thank you so much for your help.

However, i still cant install it as the msg now said that it requires 64-bit installation package.

What is your operating system?    If you have a 64 bit version of Windows 7 the correct link would be here for the basic driver or here for the full featured driver.

Hi, Bob - just bought a beautiful HP Pavilion dv7 laptop! problem is my little old printer (only 1 year old) is a DESKJET 2050 J510a and with Windows 7 64-bit loaded i cannot get the drivers extracted, no matter which of the options i down load for this system.  I have tried both the Basic and the Full versions, and when i try to run the application setup, the extraction fails and says it cannot open output file.  I have checked out the HP website in depth and cannot find a solution.  the patch also doesnt seem to work, tried downloading that and it also didnt open.  Your help is much appreciated, thanks, Iris
