Unable to save file of scanned document

Deskjet F380, Windows 7 64 -bit

Altho' I had been able to scan, manipulate & save my document onto file, currently this feature is not working. I have tried downloading & reinstalling the software& drivers & even the updates related to this problem. When I try to install the update I get the following msg: "This update does not support any of the HP devices that you have on your PC. You do not need this software update".

Re: Unable to save file of scanned document

Hi,

Please clarify what you are seeing once trying to save a scan.

  • Any specific error message?
  • Any unique behavior?
  • Any missing dialog or option?

Looking forward for your clarification, It will be helpful in order to better understand what may cause the problem.

Regards,

Shlomi

Re: Unable to save file of scanned document

When scanning, the "HP Scanning" dialog box only shows partially (only the top 1/4 is seen) & cannot be extended using the drag arrows.

When the scan is complete, the following is the error msg that appears when it fails to save the scanned document.

An error occurred in the scanning software. Try the following steps. After each step, try scanning again.

- Restart the program.

- Reboot the computer.

- Reinstall the HP Photosmart software that came with the device.

The extended error information ...

I have tried all the above suggestions but none of them have worked.

Re: Unable to save file of scanned document

Hi,

Thanks for clarifying.

Please verify the DPI settings configured by the OS, as the HP Software only supports 100% DPI :

  1. Right click on a empty area of your desktop and click on Personalize.
  2. Towards the bottom left corner, click on the Display link.
  3. In the left pane, click on the Set custom text size (DPI) link.
  4. Make sure the DPI value is set to 100%
  5. Reboot your PC and try scanning again.

Please let me know of any change, or the value been already set as 100%

Shlomi
