Universal Print Drivers not printing in color

I am deploying the Universal Printer Driver (Version 5.0 PCL6) to about a thousand printers. During our first phase of 100 printers I have found two printers that do not print in color. We have other printers of the same model that work just fine. If I change the driver to the specific driver for that model the printer works just fine. I would prefer to keep all things consistent. My question is - What would be appropriate troubleshooting for this situation? Are there techniques or adjustments that can be done on the printer itself? We have upgraded firmware without success.
