Vista Duplex Patch for Officejet 7100 Series

Some printer models with automatic duplexers do not properly print the back page in Vista.  In these models the back side is printed updside down regardless of the driver settings.

The attached zip file has a patch and instructions to correct this issue for the Officejet 7100 series all-in-one printers.

Patches for other models may be available here.

This patch has been well tested, with dozens of sucessful patches distributed via email.

The zip file has two files:

OJ7100.pdf     contains detailed instructions to apply the patch.  Opening this file requires Adobe Reader or a similar pdf viewer, available for free download.

 hpo5h83l.gpd  is the actual patch file.

To apply the patch download the zip file attached here.  Extract the files into the %temp% directory, then open the  OJ7100.pdf file and follow the instructions.

Hi,

I have installed Bob's patch for officejet 7130 for on two computers, with vista and windows 7 and it has solved the problem with the wrong orientation of the back page, thanks a lot Bob!

The remaining problems are:

No A4 paper size option, which makes printouts on this paper size look rather bad, with incorrect margins.

For Windows 7 only, I cannot change the default (single-side) options in printing preferences, i.e., I can change them but they are not remembered. Fortunately, I can save the double-sided option as a 'quick set'. Also, installing  the patch has removed the existing option of scanning from the mouse right-button, which makes scanning much more cumbersome.

Does anyone has any suggestions or patches?
