Vista Duplex Patch for Officejet 7210 7310 7410 and Photosmart 2610 2710

Bob,

Smashing job - worked like a dream for my D155xi on Vista32.  Can I suggest that you raise two issues from the user community to "management", please?

(1) - the lack of official support to these "consumer sector" products on Vista has not been good PR.  Many people who have a printer like this as their "home" printer also purchase - or influence the purchase of - business sector printers or large format printers or even computers etc in our day jobs.  If you give us a feeling that you are not keen on customer support, you jeopardise your reputation with a whole heap of prospective purchasers - not really what you want!

(2) - can we have a link to this discussion group on HP's local websites around the world?  From the UK, I only found it by googling the problem.  A pointer from the HP website would be more friendly to the customers.

For (1) I would just have to make a few observations - a) I am not an employee of HP (or anyone) and b)  I do not have any particular link to HP management.  c) I certainly am keen on end user support or I would not volunteer my time to be here helping out users.  My reputation stands on its own.

(2) Has recently been addressed with links from the  "Support and Drivers" site.  If you click on "Support and Drivers", select "See support and troubleshooting information", select your model (like Officejet D155xi) which will lead to this link.  In the lower right corner is a section called "Forum Discussions" and the first link there is to Vista Duplex Solution - Back Page Upside Down.

I would prefer the patch be actaully included in the driver downloads page but for various reasons that has not happened.  I am encouraged to see the fix is included in the Windows 7 drivers, at least for the two printers I have here, the Photosmart 2610 and Officejet 7410.

Bob - my apologies for assuming that you were on the inside with HP.  As you are not, it seems very poor that you are having to do their support work for them.  I hope, then, that someone at HP reads this thread!

Followed the well detailed instructions outlined in your pdf document and duplexing now works great on our 7310xi.  I can finally delete the Deskjet 990c workaround!

I followed your steps to the point where I had to rename the hpo7x00t.gpd *.bak. It wasn't working for me so I went to the root folder of spool and manually copied the file into it and deleted the hp* .bud file. I restarted the system and boom! here came the dual print after tweating the printer properties.

Will your Vista driver patch work with HP's Windows 7 64-bit printer driver (file name AIO_CDB_FSW_Full_Win_WW_130_141.exe when downloaded from HP's website)? I ask because duplex printing with our OfficeJet 7410 appears to be in the "flip pages up" mode regardless of any selections we make.

My experience with the downloaded driver was that it fixed the duplex issue without requiring a patch, at least on a clean install.  Did you upgrade from Vista or do a clean install?  The patch will work with Windows 7, use the same instructions as for Vista.

It's a clean install onto two HP 8710w notebooks. I am having the same problem with both. I will apply the patch now and see what happens.

Your patch worked! Our OfficeJet 7410 is properly duplex printing for the first time in a long time. I do not know why I continued to experience this problem with a clean install of Windows 7 and HP's Windows 7 printer driver, but your patch has everything working correctly.
